He began his artistic journey at a young age, mentored by celebrated carvers such as Bruce Alfred and Wayne Alfred. Ryan is known for his vibrant paintings and intricate carvings that reflect the bold, expressive style of Kwakwaka'wakw design. His work often explores traditional family crests and ancestral legends, brought to life through a modern sense of colour and movement. Ryan is dedicated to the preservation of his cultural protocols, ensuring that the visual history of his people remains vibrant and influential.
