We believe that Indigenous artists should be treated fairly and with respect. Authenticity of art, design, and culture is the foundation of our mission of building everyday connection to Indigenous cultures.

Native Northwest products are guided by the following five principles:

• 100% of the art featured on every Native Northwest product is designed by Indigenous artists

• All artists have provided consent and contractual permission for their art to be featured on Native Northwest products

• Artist names are acknowledged on all product packaging

• Cultural traditions are honoured by acknowledging cultural affiliation on product packaging

• Artists are paid in fees and royalties

Ryan Cranmer is a Kwakwaka'wakw artist from the Namgis First Nation of Alert Bay, BC. He began his artistic journey at a young age, mentored by celebrated carvers such as Bruce Alfred and Wayne Alfred. Ryan is known for his vibrant paintings and intricate carvings that reflect the bold, expressive style of Kwakwaka'wakw design. His work often explores traditional family crests and ancestral legends, brought to life through a modern sense of colour and movement. Ryan is dedicated to the preservation of his cultural protocols, ensuring that the visual history of his people remains vibrant and influential.
