Ben Houstie is a Heiltsuk artist born in Bella Bella, BC. He began his artistic career in the 1970s, mentored by legendary artists including Bill Reid and Mungo Martin. Ben is known for his serene paintings and carvings that reflect the natural beauty of the Central Coast. His work often features eagles, ravens, and wolves, rendered with a clean and balanced style that evokes a sense of peace and cultural continuity. Through his art and teaching, Ben is committed to preserving the traditions and visual language of the Heiltsuk people.
