    Statement of Respect and Authenticity

We believe that Indigenous artists should be treated fairly and with respect. Authenticity of art, design, and culture is the foundation of our mission of building everyday connection to Indigenous cultures.

Native Northwest products are guided by the following five principles:

    • 100% of the art featured on every Native Northwest product is designed by Indigenous artists

    • All artists have provided consent and contractual permission for their art to be featured on Native Northwest products

    • Artist names are acknowledged on all product packaging

    • Cultural traditions are honoured by acknowledging cultural affiliation on product packaging

    • Artists are paid in fees and royalties

  • “I create art that connects me to my family, our traditions, and our spirit of continuity.” – Simone Diamond, Coast Salish

Simone Diamond, a Coast Salish artist from Duncan, British Columbia, carries forward a rich family tradition of artistry as the daughter of master carver Francis Horne Sr. Her designs reflect the elegance and depth of Coast Salish art, incorporating mediums such as pencil, painting, and carving.

Simone’s artistic journey began early—she carved her first mask at the age of 13 and was selling her designs by 16. A self-taught artist with a strong lineage of influential Coast Salish creators, she continues to refine her detailed and distinctive style.

Simone’s work is deeply rooted in her heritage, celebrating connection, tradition, and the enduring spirit of her people. As she builds her career through dedication and creativity, her art stands as a testament to the strength and beauty of Coast Salish culture.
