Deanna Samuel is a Ditidaht and Nuu-chah-nulth artist from the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Her artwork is a vibrant reflection of her rich cultural heritage, deeply connected to the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest. Drawing inspiration from ancestral stories and the natural world, Deanna utilizes bold colours and fluid lines to modernize traditional Nuu-chah-nulth forms. Her designs often feature revered animals like the hummingbird and fox, serving as messengers of joy, cleverness, and cultural resilience. Through her collaboration with Native Northwest, Deanna’s work continues to bring the beauty of West Coast storytelling to a global audience.
