His Indigenous heritage significantly influenced his unique artistic style, which often featured "explosive fluorescent colours." He passed away on March 22, 2025. His artistic talent led him to display his works across Canada in numerous art shows and exhibits, including the esteemed McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Don Chase received several accolades throughout his career, notably the Mayor's Choice award at the 43rd juried art exhibition at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa in 2011.
