Melaney Gleeson-Lyall is a Coast Salish artist and author from the Musqueam Nation, born on the unceded, ancestral lands of her people, which are known today as Vancouver, British Columbia. Her Coast Salish roots also extend to the Lyackson and Nanoose Nations. As an adoptee who has successfully reconnected with her cultural heritage and First Nations families, her life and work are often described as bridging two cultures and two worlds, with an eye towards reconciliation. Gleeson-Lyall’s art, which features traditional Coast Salish styles, is prominently featured on products such as woven blankets, stationery, and home décor items. She is also a recognized author, with works like the board book I'm Dreaming of... and a series of colouring journals that incorporate Northwest Coast First Nations art and cultural teachings with pages for personal self-reflection. Beyond her artistic contributions, Gleeson-Lyall is a highly adaptable professional with broad life experience, having also been a national finalist on the Food Network Canada series Recipe to Riches, winning her category with a "Savoury Bannock topped Pie."
