Nahaan

Tlingit, Inupiaq, Paiute

Nahaan is a multi-disciplinary artist and cultural advocate known for his work in traditional Tlingit tattooing, carving, and poetry. Based in Seattle, his practice is focused on the revitalization of Indigenous languages and visual protocols. Nahaan’s art is a powerful expression of sovereignty and identity, often utilizing bold, classical formline to address contemporary social and political themes. By integrating ancestral knowledge with modern activism, he creates works that serve as both a personal journey of reclamation and a communal call for the preservation and celebration of Indigenous heritage.
