James Jacko is an Anishinaabe artist from the Wikwemikong Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island. A self-taught painter working in the Woodland style, his art is a spiritual exploration of the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world. Jacko’s work is characterized by vibrant colours and symbolic imagery that reflect the traditional teachings and legends passed down through generations. Through his practice, he seeks to honour the spirits of the land and to share the wisdom of his ancestors, creating a visual dialogue that promotes cultural understanding and environmental respect.
