Garnet Tobacco is a Cree artist from the Mosakahiken First Nation in Manitoba, known for his masterful paintings in the Woodland style. A protégé of the late Isaac Bignell, Garnet has spent over 30 years refining a technique that emphasizes fluid movement and delicate linework. His work often features the wildlife of the Canadian wilderness, such as herons, bison, and wolves, rendered with a sense of grace and spiritual vitality. Garnet’s art is a peaceful celebration of the natural world, aimed at preserving the storytelling traditions of his heritage through a modern aesthetic.
