Benjamin Chee Chee
Ojibwe
Benjamin Chee Chee (1944–1977) was a prominent Ojibwe artist from Temagami, Ontario, known for his elegant and minimalist style. He gained national recognition for his "Friends" series, which used fluid, continuous lines to depict Canada geese in motion. Unlike many of his contemporaries who focused on traditional Woodland motifs, Chee Chee embraced a modern aesthetic that emphasized simplicity and grace. His work remains iconic in Canadian art, celebrated for its ability to convey profound emotion and movement through a few masterful strokes.
